The Fight to End Hunger Starts with You

There’s no reason anyone should be hungry in the United States. Even if you don’t make a lot of money, there’s more than enough food for everyone. Yet, an estimated 41 million people struggle with hunger. And it doesn’t have to be that way.

Did you know an estimated 72 billion pounds of food is wasted every year? That’s a grocery bill of about $218 billion that ends up spoiled. Kind of crazy, right? That’s what the founders of Feeding America thought when the non-profit organization took on the challenge to end hunger. And they’re making a difference.

Last year, Feeding America saved about 3.3 billion pounds of food from being wasted, and helped that food get to the people who need it most. Here’s how. Feeding America is partnering with farmers, food manufacturers, grocery stores, restaurants, and food service organizations to collect and distribute unused food before it goes bad. Those donations go to food banks, shelters, and other organizations that feed the hunger in local communities across America.

Know someone who needs help keeping the refrigerator and pantry stocked? Send them an order of MagicKitchen.com meals. Or send them a MagicKitchen.com gift certificate, so they can pick out their own meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. And then connect them with Feeding America, for ongoing assistance.
